Family gathering time begins on Thanksgiving Day, and Holiday shopping
season begins on the day after Thanksgiving: Thanksgiving Day in November, and
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in December are two big family gathering
occasions. The shopping season starts the day after Thanksgiving and ends
on Christmas Eve. X-mas decorations start going up the Day after Thanksgiving
(some people may start earlier) and usually stay up till mid-January. Christmas
lights are very popular and beautiful.
Minneapolis
has the TCF Holidazzle (X-mas Lights) Parades. Many Americans buy gifts like
crazy during the holiday season, and some people end up in trouble with
paying the credit companies during the next year.
Before Christmas Eve, Christmas parties are very common. On the last day of the
year, New Years Eve parties are really common, followed by both fireworks and
noisemaker-noises signaling New Years Day.
”The Nutcracker” (Tchaikovsky) ballet has become a part of the holiday
season (between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve)!
NCAA College football Bowl games such as Cotton, Gator, Capital One,
Rose, Fiesta, Orange, Sugar, and BCS Championship Game are underway from
mid-December through early January. Newsletter 14, 18;
